John Brown (1848 - 1930) was a 3rd-generation farmer in the Town of Lisle, Broome County, NY.
At one time he also owned a hotel / inn in Upper Lisle, NY, next to the General Store (later called Erikson's General Store). The hotel was later owned by Victor & Mary Lamb. The hotel / inn / house no longer exists.
John Brown's paternal grandparents were John Brown (1782 - 1852) & Nancy Wood (1786 - 1862). They arrived in Tompkins County, NY, from CT, around 1800, then in the Town of Lisle around 1810. By that time they had a number of children. This established the 1st generation of Brown farmers in the Town of Lisle.
This John Brown's parents were Hiram Brown (1810 - 1880) & (2) Mary Weygant (1816 - 1850).
