RETIRED DOCTOR SUCCUMBS AT 69
Funeral rites were conducted at the Sheridan Funeral chapel Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. for Dr. Albert R. Sargeant, Portland, who died January 26 at the age of 69 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
Dr. Sargeant was born in Yamhill county May 14, 1880, on the donation land claim of his grandfather, Reuben Gant. He attended schools in this county and the University of Oregon Medical school. Following eleven years of business in Alaska, he returned to practice medicine in Sheridan and the surrounding territory for 15 years and in Portland until six years ago, when he retired.
In 1905 he was married to Charlotte Keesey Sargeant at Portland, who survives him. He was a member of the McMinnville Woodmen of the World, and the Sheridan American Legion post.
Other survivors are daughters, Mrs. Helen Root, Portland, and Mrs. Ethel Coppock, Athena; and four granchildren.
The Rev. Mr. Feenstra officiated at the rites, interment was in the Masonic cemetery at Sheridan. Macy and Son Funeral Home of McMinnville had charge of arrangements.
