Arthur Leslie Young, Jr., 88, died July 8, 2004. He was born August 24, 1915, in Area (now called Mundelein), Illinois, to Arthur Young and Edna Broadhead. A graduate of the Kenosha (Wisconsin) High School Class of 1935, Art served his country during World War II as a Major in the U.S. Army before moving to Oklahoma. He retired from Wilson and Company after a 32-year career and lived the remainder of his life as an "Okie."
He was preceded in death by his parents; older sister, Dorothy McKenzie; wife, Frances; and first wife, Margaret. Survivors include children William Young and wife, Juanita, Oklahoma City; Margaret Owens and husband, Phillip, Oklahoma City; Dian Doak, Tulsa; Marcia Seifert and husband, Rudy, Cleveland, Ohio; Kristina Carroll and husband, Jim, Goodlettsville, Tennessee; Mark Merchant and wife, LaQuita, Sanger, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was a lifelong Episcopalian and active member of All Souls' Episcopal Church where he regularly attended until his health no longer allowed him to do so. Art cherished his beloved Schnauzer, Freddie, who, along with the rest of the family, will miss him dearly. The family will receive friends of Art on Monday, July 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, Oklahoma City. Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2005, at All Souls' Episcopal Church, with interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
