At 9 o'clock p.m. of the 3d inst., the spirit of our dear old friend left its mortal abode. About two years ago sister McClure was residing with her daughter, Mary Pierce, at Liberty, Ky. Finding that her health was on the decline, she decided to come back to her old home where she was born, married, and resided until long after the death of her husband, Aaron McClure, 29 years ago.
Her daughter, like Ruth of old, rented out her home in Liberty and has watched over her mother until the little mound was patted down and flowers strewn over the lifeless body.
Besides other friends who tenderly watched over her, Aunt Mourning Warriner came from Lincoln county three months ago and assisted greatly with her cheerful christian spirit in keeping her sister's mind off of the cancer that was gradually taking her life.
Aunt Ruth and myself were two of the seven who organized the Beech Grove Christian Church, 38 years ago. At her death she had been a faithful worker in the cause for 50 years.
I have been intimately acquainted with her for 40 years and I never heard her say a word unbecoming a Christian. If she failed to hear the welcome applaudit, "well done thou good and faithful servant," I am no judge of a christian character.
The funeral services were held at the McClure grave yard, conducted by Eld. J.F. Barger.
