RALPH P. NIELD, age 82 of Ririe, died in the Rexburg Care Center, Saturday,
February 25, 2006. Ralph was born July 5, 1923, at Poplar, Idaho the son of
Percy LaVell Nield and Ella Amelia Rice Nield. Ralph grew up and attended
schools in Ririe, Idaho, and graduated from Ririe High School were he was active
in sports. He attended Idaho State University and Colorado State University. He
returned to Idaho State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science and a
Masters degree in Education Administration. He played football at Idaho State
and was on the Boxing team. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints he served as a ward financial clerk, and a High Priest Group
instructor. He married Jessie Ruth Bingham Moss, June 2, 1947 in Poplar, Idaho.
He farmed in the Ririe area for many years. He taught math and science, and was
the principal of Ririe High School, and served as superintendent of Swan Valley
School District. Ralph served as Second Lieutenant with the United States Marine
Crops during World War Two, and was wounded at Iwo Jima. Ralph enjoyed fishing
and sports. He especially enjoyed his family. Ralph is survived by three
daughters; Rosa Lee (Daniel) Staiger, serving a mission for the L.D.S. Church in
Frankfurt, Germany, Ann Marie (Joseph) McMurtrey of Ammon, Idaho, and Lisa
(Kurtis) Humpherys of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Survived by five sons; Brent J.
(LaRae) Moss of Rexburg, Idaho, Kevin R. (Suzan) Nield of Centerville, Utah,
Curtis (Meta) Nield of Ririe, Idaho, Robert (Denise) Nield of Iona, Idaho, and
Myron (Devry) Nield of Kimberly, Idaho. He is survived by one brother Max
(Barbara) Nield of Dillon, Montana. Ralph is survived by 40 grandchildren and 44
great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Jessie Ruth Moss Nield,
three sisters, one brother and one grandson. Funeral services will be Wednesday,
March 1, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ririe L.D.S. Stake Center, 14061 North 130
East, Ririe, Idaho. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 7:00 p.m. –
8:30 p.m. at the Stake Center in Ririe, and Wednesday 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at
the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Ririe – Shelton Cemetery, under the
direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
