Ruth Eloise Ruchotzke was born Sept. 16, 1929 near Morley, Iowa. Daughter of Clarence and Dora (Tucker) Tenley. One brother, Russell Tenley. She graduated from High School in Morley, Iowa. She attended college at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, and Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI) in Cedar Falls, IA. She married Leroy Marvin Ruchotzke on August 20, 1950. Ruth and Leroy had seven children: Kirk, Connie (Albaugh), Craig, Cathy, Christy (Shields), Roxanna (Koch), and Barbara (Taylor). She and Leroy farmed at Morley and Wheatland/Lowden until 1965 when they moved to Mechanicsville, IA and Leroy stopped farming. Ruth lived in Mechanicsville, IA for 35 years until 2001. Leroy died in August 1983. Ruth moved to Bickford Cottage in Marion, IA in late spring of 2001 where she resided until her death on July 29, 2002 (She suffered from Pancreatic Cancer).
