Andrew "Andy" L. Johnson, age 68, of Newark, DE went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, peacefully in the presence of his loved ones. Mr. Johnson worked in transportation for various trucking companies and Delaware Transit throughout his career. He was a man firm in his convictions, who demonstrated strong ethics, had tremendous resolve and perseverance, willing to assist anyone in anyway he could, proud of his family, and who enjoyed being with his grandson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Kevin and wife Jacqueline and grandson Audon of Newark; his best friend and former wife, Carolyn Kubik; niece, Jennifer Lopez and family. He was predeceased by his mother, Ina Thompson; stepfather, Bart Thompson; and his good friend, Clarence "Jack" Jewell, Jr. of Wilmington.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011 in Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 9:30am-10:30am followed by a service in celebration of Andrew's life at 10:30am. Burial will be in Hickory Grove in Port Penn. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to Franciscan Care Center, 100 St. Claire Drive, Hockessin, DE 19707.
