| Birth: | May 15, 1713 Framingham Middlesex County Massachusetts, USA | | Death: | 1782 Hopkinton Middlesex County Massachusetts, USA |  Thomas Mellen was a Major in the French and Indian War fighting in New York State and Canada. He was one of the 200+ delegates to the First Massachusetts Provincial Congress in 1774 which decided to raise money for guns, ammunition, and mess kits "in case war with the British was necessary." (The guns, etc. were purchased and hidden in key points in Massachusetts such as Concord). In the Revolutionary War, Mellen was first a Lieutenant and later a Captain. He also saw service in Rhode Island during the Rhode Island alarm. You were a son of Henry Mellen (1691 - 1767) and his wife Abigail Pratt Mellen who died July 30, 1781 at the age of 88 years. They are also buried in this church burial yard. -
