Yugoslav Politician. President of the Federal Executive Council of Yugoslavia, from 1971 to his death in 1977. After graduating in law from the University of Belgrade he joined the Communist Party in 1939 and fought with Marshal Tito's partisans in World War II. Later in his career, Bijedic held party posts in Bosnia and Hercegovina. In 1974 during the Congress of the League of Communists he was elected to the 39-member Presidium. He was killed on January 18, 1977, with his wife, when there plane crashed during a snowstorm.
