Lifelong Resident of Utica Dies at Fourth Lake.
Utica, July 6. Word was received in this city last evening of the sad death at the Kenmore, Fourth Lake, of Charles Blust, who was well and favorably known in this city. Mr. Blust had successfully conducted the drug store at 182 Court street for the last 12 years and close attention to the details of business had undermined his health. Mr. Blust was born in Utica and always lived here.
September 14, 1897, Mr. Blust and Miss Jennie Pierce of Westernville, were married. She survives him. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Matthias Blust of Holland Patent, four
brothers and four sisters. William of Stittvllle, Anna of New York, Minnie of Nyack, Edward and Eleanor of this city, and George, Fred and Harriet of Holland Patent. He was an attendant upon the services of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in this city. He was generous and openhearted, and made and retained many friends. Despite the condition of his health, he was never heard to complain. Moroseness was not in his nature which was
light and sunny. His friends - and he had many - will be sincerely grieved to learn of the loss which they have sustained in his death. The Rome Daily Sentinel, Thursday Evening, July 6, 1911

Charles Blust Died Last Night
West Utica Druggist Expired at Fourth Lake - His Death was Unexpected
One of the best known and most popular of West Utica's residents was unexpectedly removed by death last night, when Charles Blust. the druggist, pasted away at the Kenmore,
Fourth Lake. For the past few years Mr. Blust had suffered continually with asthma and this, together with his strict attention to his drug business, undermined his health. It was in the hope of bettering his health, that he went to Fourth Lake. To the many who knew Mr. Blust. the news of his death will be learned with much regret, coming as it does most unexpectedly, as his illness was not thought to be of such a serious nature.
Charles Blust was born in this city on February 22, 1870. His home had always been in Utica, his education being received for the most part in the public schools of the city, although he attended the Fairfield Seminary for a time. After leaving the seminary he was employed for three or four years at the State Hospital in the capacity of attendant and assistant in the apothecary shop. There he learned the principles of pharmacy and after passing the State examination, became manager of the Wheeler drug store at 230 Genesee street. There he remained about two years, at the expiration of which he bought the drug business at 182 Court street, which he had successfully conducted ever since.
On September 14, 1897, Mr. Blust married Miss Jennie Pierce of Westernville, who survives him.
Mr. Blust attended the Memorial Presbyterian Church and to the numerous friends who held him in highest esteem, he was know as a man of generous and kind disposition, excellent character and a worthy citizen.
