Services for Claud T. Hedges, 90, were held at First Baptist church.
He and Jim Willis Rathke were married 8 August 1925 at Wichita Falls, Texas. The couple moved to Olney that same year.
Hedges owned / operated shallow oil leases in Archer and Young County for 50 years. He had land holdings in North Texas and Blanco County.
As a member of First Baptist Church, he served as deacon for 35 years having been ordained at the Megargel Baptist Church in 1927. He was a Sunday School teacher, department superintendent for 40 years and the first Sunday School superintendent at Northside Mission, now Immanuel Baptist Church.
He took great interest in young people and assisted several through high school and college. Following the death of his son, Celtyn Hedges, he established a scholarship in his honor at Olney High School.
Survived by his wife; one daughter - Onabeth Duncan of Jolly; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
