Anna was born on September 2, 1909 in Canby, Oregon, the daughter of Charles Eber and Carrie Elise (Clausen) KenKnight. After living in Fort Rock, OR, Portland, OR and Dalton, MN, the family made their home at Clearbrook, MN in 1919. Anna attended Greenwood School Dist. 45, Clearbrook, MN. Anna also attended Mechanical Arts High School in St. Paul graduating in 1927 and Stillwater Normal School in Stillwater, MN graduating in 1928. Anna went on to teach at the East Clover School rural Clearbrook in the 1928-1929 school year. She had seven students and they were all boys. Anna knew when she was 15 years old that she wanted to marry Clark Nelson and on May 29, 1929 in Bagley, MN that dream came true. They were sweethearts for the next 7 decades. Clark passed away just 18 days before their 75th wedding anniversary. She sorely missed him the past 7 years. Anna was a 4-H leader for 19 years and taught Sunday school for 29 years. She liked to draw and paint with watercolors. Anna accomplished many forms of needlework: sewing, knitting socks and mittens, crocheting lace, embroidery and making toys and rugs. Anna also enjoyed gardening and making floral arrangements. She furthered the genealogical research done by her sister-in-law and transferred the information into computer programs. She wrote 2 books about her personal experiences and family history. She taught herself to use a computer after she turned 80 years old. Anna loved to read and had a passion for American and European history. She loved her children and grandchildren, cherishing each new family member as a blessing from the Lord.
