The wife of Johann Jacob Walter Sr. Elizabeth's branch of our Hoffman family arrived from Germany earlier than the Hoffman/Huffmans who came over with Jacob's Walter family on the "Saint Andrew" in 1738. Johann Jacob and Elizabeth's fathers were brothers-in-law, so Jacob and Elizabeth were first cousins; a custom we see repeated between these families over the generations.
Elizabeth and Johan Jacob were the parents of several children, among whom are Jacob Jr., Philip (who settled in Ohio), Peter, who married Anna Marie Huffman, Christina Elizabeth who became the wife of Daniel John Huffman Sr., and John Jacob Walter Sr., who married Maria Magdalena Crispen. Two other daughters married and remained in Westmoreland County, one of them was Sarah who married Andrew Crissinger.

On 15 Oct 1823, after Jacob's death, Elizabeth signed over the remaining property in Unity Township, Westmoreland owned by Jacob to his sons Peter, John Walter and son-in-law, Daniel Huffman.
