Myrtle R. Johnston, 94, of Wellsboro died Friday afternoon at the Carlton Nursing Home, Wellsboro, after a lingering illness.

Born May 12, 1891 in Bradford County, she was the daughter of Bernard U. and Sarah Ann Hibbard Corson.

She formerly resided in Elmira, Harrison Valley and New Albany. Her husband, Billy H. Johnston died in 1960.

While living in Elmira, Mrs. Johnston worked as a seamstress for Izard's for six years. She moved to New Albany in 1945, where she and her husband operated a hardware store until his death.

She was a member of the New Albany Baptist Church and ALERT Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Elmira Heights.

Her only brother, G. Billy Johnston, died Jan. 8, 1983.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Necia Jones of Wellsboro; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Mrs. Helen Corson; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Pearl Johnston.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the New Albany Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Berg, pastor of the New Albany Cooperative Parish, officiating.

Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. until the service.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Russell McHenry Funeral Home, Dushore.
