KILLEEN — Services for retired Sgt. 1st Class Robert Harrison Whitney, 77, of Killeen will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen with military honors and a U.S. Army chaplain officiating.

Mr. Whitney died Saturday, April 23, in a Temple hospital.

He was born April 17, 1934, to Lincoln Holmes and Helen Breckenridge Whitney in Hartford, Conn. He was raised in Hartford. He joined the Army in 1941 and served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1978 at Fort Hood, then worked as a guard for the Department of Corrections for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aurelia.

Survivors include three sons, Harry Whitney of Salado, Robert E. Whitney of Temple and Michael Whitney of Texas; two daughters, Linda J. Whitney of Austin and Jennise Whitney-Leafa of Harker Heights; and six grandchildren.
