Born into a theatrical family as Mabel Adrienne Morrison, she was the mother of Constance, Barbara, and Joan Bennett, who all became film actresses. She was the daughter of Rose Wood and stage actor Lewis Morrison. Her grandson was Morton Downey Jr., of television fame. After retiring from the theater in 1926, she made a brief return in May of 1940 to appear in "Grey Farm." Keeping her maiden name, she appeared in six minor film roles from 1914 to 1917. She married twice: Richard Bennett from 1903 to 1925 and Eric Pinker from 1927 until her death of a sudden heart attack.
