Raymond Leon Cook, 61, of Greenback, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital.

He was a Christian and was a member of Morganton Baptist Church. He had a unique gift with children as they all seemed to be drawn to him. He loved his family and horses and was an avid hunter. He served in maintenance at Greenback School for more than 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Juanita Carpenter Cook.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda McCarter Cook; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Judy Cook and Gary and Kathy Cook; his avid hunting buddy and special friend, Bill Bales; a daughter-like friend, Sonya Russell and her husband, Mike; many more friends too numerous to name; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Self officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Morganton Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Huffstetler officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions on Raymond's behalf may be made to the Greenback Rescue Squad, 6815 Morganton Rd., Greenback, TN 37742.

Miller Funeral Home of Maryville is in charge of arrangements.
