James A. Bley, 82, 1112 Ewing St., was dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital at 5:25 a.m. today (sic) after suffering a heart attack at his home. A lifelong resident of Ft. Wayne, Mr. Bley retired 10 years ago from C.L. Shust Co., where he was employed for over 20 years. He was a member of the Catherial of the Immaculate Conception, and was formerly a baseball player with the old White Sox team in Fort Wayne.
He also was a member of the Roofer's Union, having served as its business agent before his retirement. Surviving is his wife, Jessie; a daughter, Mrs. Maurice E. (Madelene) Jacobs, Fort Wayne; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Herbert (Marie) Nitzsche, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, a great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Mugovan and Sons Mortuary Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (April 16) at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home and at 9 a.m. at the Catheral, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas L. Durkin officiating at a Requiem High Mass. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
St. Vincent DePaul Society to say services Monday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
