ROGERSVILLE - Harlow C. Tunnell, age 84, Rogersville, formerly of Greene County, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002.
He was a farmer and retired from Dodge of Rogersville in 1979. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Christian and member of Greenvale Baptist Church, and attended Magnolia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Turffa and Robert C. Tunnell; six brothers, Gilbert, Cubert, Elmer, Alvia, George Haskel and William "Bill" Tunnell; and a grandson, Mark Randall Newman.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Dell Frazier Tunnell of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Charles and Kay Caldwell, Kermit and Edith Bentley, Mark and Velma Newman, all of Surgoinsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Harlow C. Jr. and Carolyn Tunnell, Rogersville; four grandchildren, David Caldwell, Robin Lee, Neil Tunnell and Kristy T. Fields; five great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters; a step-grandson, Greg Price; brother, Robert Tunnell, Van Hill; aunt, Sally Roberts, Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Revs. Fain Arnold and Bryon Thurman officiating. Military graveside services followed at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens with services conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard.
