Funeral rites for Arthur S. Grubbs, 72, well-known Decatur resident, were conducted at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon at Brown's Chapel on Ferry Street by Rev. L.J. Kaylor, pastor of Westside Presbyterian Church. Burial in City Cemetery was in charge of Brown.
Mr. Grubbs died at 2 a.m. Sunday at his home, 310 Fourth Avenue, west. He had been ill a long time.
Pallbearers were W.R. Compton, William Bush, J.A. Meadows, Cole Holesapple, J.N. Garnett, Jess Branum and Frank Vaughn.
Surviving are two sons, S.K. and W.B. Grubbs, of Decatur, and five grandchildren.
For several years Mr. Grubbs was an employe of the L & N Railroad Company.

Sterling was born to parents Dianicia Elizabeth Abernathy and Sterling Coleman Grubbs, who had passed 29 Jun 1887 in Cross County, Arkansas.
They had married 19 Sep 1855 in Giles County Tennessee & 1860 Census shows them living in District 21, Lincoln, Tennessee.
They had many children (Arthur's siblings) not limited to Virginia Grubbs 1869– Otha H. Grubbs 1874– and Cecil Davis Grubbs 16 Jun 1877 - 12 Apr 1950 She had married Samuel 'Sam' Todd Cockrill 1871 - 1948 in Fannin County, Texas on 29 Jun 1898
