Helen Frye

PORTLAND — Helen Jackson Frye of Portland, formerly of Lane County, died April 21 of age-related causes. She was 80. No service is planned.

She was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Klamath Falls to Earl and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Jackson. She married William Frye on Sept. 7, 1952. They divorced in 1975 and he died in 1988. She married Perry Holloman. He died in 1992.

She graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in 1953, a master's degree in 1961 and a doctorate in 1966. She was a federal judge.

Survivors include a son, Eric of New York City; two daughters, Karen Gustafson of Corvallis and Lisbet Caffarelli of Beaverton; an adopted daughter, Hedy Donnelly of Portland; a brother, Earl Jackson of Klamath Falls; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A grandson, Colin Frye, died previously.

Arrangements by Aftercare Cremation & Burial Service in Gresham. Remembrances to the University of Oregon English Department or the Oregon Humane Society.
