Richard Kirk "Dick" Brown was born April 5, 1904 in Chandler, Oklahoma Territory. He was the son of James Absolem and Florence Olive (Morrow) Brown. On March 26, 1932, Richard married Cora May Williams in Stroud, Oklahoma. They made their first home there and held membership in the First Baptist Church of Stroud.

On March 16, 1933, a son, Dennis Owen was born to Richard and Cora. A girl, Julah Nadine, followed on September 19, 1940.

While living in Stroud, Richard worked for Lloyd Roberts at the DX station. Later when the family moved to Cushing, Oklahoma, Richard worked for the Coca-Cola company as a truck driver. He was also employed by the Hughes Concrete Company and the City of Cushing. The family later lived in Arlington, Texas for a time. While there, Richard worked for Arlington Schools as a janitor and also in housekeeping at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The Brown family later moved back to Cushing and the children graduated high school there. The family attended the First Baptist Church of Cushing.

On July 29, 1977, Richard died in Cushing at the age of seventy-three. He was buried in the Stoud Cemetery.
