Located on Crawford Avenue in Plum Run Valley, this monument marks the spot where the 6th New Jersey Infantry, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Stephen R. Gilkyson, was positioned on July 2, 1863. Here, Lt. Col. Gilkyson's command assisted in covering the withdrawal of Ward's Brigade as it was forced out of the Wheatfield/Devil's Den area. (bio by: Russ Dodge)
