US Congressman. Born in Adams, Minnesota, he engaged in the real estate business in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, (1900-09), when he moved to Washburn, Wisconsin. He was editor and publisher of the Washburn News, a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, (1913-15) and Mayor of Washburn, (1912, 1920-22). In 1923, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-eighth Congress and to the next five succeeding Congresses, serving until 1935. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged in the real estate business until his death at age 56 in Washburn, Wisconsin.
