Willard was born Apr. 12, 1812 in Eastham, MA, the 2nd of 9 children of Joshua & Bridget Hopkins. He had siblings John, Ruth, Julia, Sara, Joshua, Samuel, Charles and Mary.
He grew up in Eastham and moved to Greenwich, Ohio in 1838 when he was 26 with his first wife, Lucy Reed. They had two daughters, Mary and Lucy Marion.
Lucy died on March 2, 1842 when she was 22 years old -- possibly in childbirth or shortly thereafter as daughter Lucy Marion was born in 1842.
Will then married Jane Easterly on Dec. 5, 1843. They had eight children listed above.
Will was 58 in the 1870 Greenwich census and was a pioneer farmer in Greenwich. He passed away suddenly on May 21, 1878 from heart failure in Greenwich at age 66. Jane died four years later on March 17, 1822 at age 59.
He is buried in the Nineveh Cemetery in Greenwich Township with both wives, Lucy and Jane.
