Blakesley, Edmund, wagon maker, and carpenter. Chapin residence Sec. 11, rep. liberal, born in Cattaraugus Co. N.Y. 26 Feb. 1829. At the age of 8 years, his parents took him to Peoria Co. Ill., left there in 1854, having lived there seventeen years; married 22 Aug. 1851 in Village of Cambridge, Henry Co. Ill. to Oive Adelia Lake, born in Geauga Co. Ohio Nov. 7 1830. Have six children living; James O. b. 22 Aug. 1854, Rolla E., b. 11 April 1861, Earnest E., b. 25 Oct. 1862, Helen I. b. 7 Aug. 1865, Lewis W. b. 8 April 1868, Emery J. b. 22 April 1871, Charles A., b. 9 Oct. 1852, d. 14 April 1862, Elia M.., b. 30 April 1859, d. Oct. 30 1861.

His father's life was that of a regular pioneer, and he built his log hut of puncheon, so known to the early settlers, it was made of logs split by hand into what was then used instead of boards. His fathers name was Parley E. Blakesley., born in Onondaga Co. N.Y. 14 Sept 1805; died 17 July 1870 Mason Co. His wife was Anna M Adams, born in Onondaga Co..

Mr. Edmund Blakesley enlisted 7 Feb. 1865 in Co. I, 148th Ill. Inf. was stationed in the Cumberland Mountains, Tenn. most of the time during guard duty on the roads and railroods; was there at the time of Lincolns' assassination. Lived three years in Kansas; in 1874 he was cleaned out by grasshoppers.
