In 1763 he led the "Pontiac Conspiracy," it was an uprising against the British from the Great Lakes Region, to New York and then to Pennsylvania. He hoped to receive help from French troops, but none came. His plan was to wipe out a British settlement in the Appalachian Mountains, he nearly succeeded, but after conquering Detroit he made peace in 1765.
