J. Clarence Andrew, 45, Cashtown, died Saturday evening at 11:45 o’clock at the Annie M. Warner hospital after having been in failing health for nine years. He suffered from diabetes. He had been admitted to the hospital last Monday.
Mr. Andrew was a native of Hamilton township and was born near Fairfield. He was a son of the late James Andrew and Mrs. Elma (Biggs) Andrew of Cashtown.
The deceased was a retired carpenter and painter and formerly had served as driver of the Franklin township consolidated school bus for several terms.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Reformed church of Cashtown and was affiliated with the Gettysburg lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose; Gettysburg Lodge No. 1562, Fraternal Order of Eagles; the Cashtown fire company, the Adams county firemen’s association, the Southeastern firemen’s association, and the Pennsylvania State firemen’s organization.
Surviving are his mother, three children; John M., Glenn W. and Betty I. Andrew, all at home; these brothers and sisters; Harry E., Lindonville, New York; Roy L. and Clyde G., both of near Cashtown; Mrs. Earl Smith, Breckenridge Street; Mrs. Shelby Finkboner, York Street; Mrs. Clifford Biesecker, Orrtanna, and Miss Dorothy Andrew, Gettysburg.
The wife of the deceased, the late Maude Mickley, died May 16, 1934.
Funeral services from the Andrew home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with his pastor, the Rev. G. Howard Koons, Fairfield, officiating. Interment in Flohr’s cemetery.
