John E Biesecker, 86, Orrtanna, died at his home Monday evening at 11:43 o/clock following a stroke he suffered Sunday afternoon.
He was born and resided most of his life in Orrtanna, a son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Chamberlain) Biesecker. The deceased was a farmer and fruit grower and planted his first orchard in 1914. He was a member of the Orrtanna Methodist Church, Cashtown Fire Company and the Adams County Farm Bureau which he helped organize. He also helped organize the Cooperative Fruit Growers of Aspers. His wife, the former Carrie G Sowers, died in 1922.
Surviving are two children, Clifford, at home, and Mrs. Herbert Schmidt, Gettysburg; four grand-children; two great-grandchildren and one brother, Ira, Orrtanna.
Funeral services Thursday at 2 pm at the Bender Funeral Home conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Norman Marden. Interment in Flohr’s Cemetery, McKnightstown. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 o’clock.
It has been requested that flowers be omitted.
