Hassell Gilbert Marlow, 92, of 2564 Robinhood Road, Callands, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at his home.
He was born March 5, 1914, in Pittsylvania County to William Marlow and Mary Giles Marlow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Albert William Marlow; five sisters, Eva Atkins, Nannie Hankins, Elsie Gauldin, Rebecca Gauldin and Alice Marlow; and four brothers, Arthur Marlow, Harvey Marlow, Henry Marlow and H.L. Marlow.
He had been a Rawleigh Dealer, worked for Dan River Mills and was a farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of County Line Church where he was a former deacon.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Betty Still Marlow of the home; two daughters, Shirley Marlow Elixson of Callands and Cathy Marlow Rogers of Seneca, S.C.; a son, Johnny G. Marlow of Danville; a sister, Callie Wells of Callands; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at County Line Christian Church with Ministers Dean Ashby, Louis Hall and Tim Maness officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the church and other times at the home of a daughter, Shirley Elixson, 1936 Robinhood Road, Callands.
