Etta Mae McDavid passed away Saturday(April 11, 2009) at her residense following an extended illness.

She was born in Scott County, VA, but had lived most of her life in Hawkins County. She was a member of Cowans Brance Baptist Church of Scott County, VA. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed flowers, drawing, and painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Harvey and Mary Herron McDavid, her husband, Johnny R., son, Johnny McDavid, an infant son, and two grandsons.

Survivors include her son, James McDavid of the home, two daughters, Mary Kate Drinnon of Rogersville, and Shirley Grace Arnold and husband, Dean of Church Hill, twenty one grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, special daughter-in-law, Shelby McDavid, and a special caregiver, Kathy Dickerson.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. George Winegar officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
