Major League Baseball Player. He as an outfielder making his debut with the New York Giants on April 20, 1936. For seven seasons, he played with the New York Giants (1936-39), Cincinnati Reds (1940-41), was a member of Reds' World Series Championship in 1940 and Philadelphia Athletics in 1943. He finished his career with a record of 510 hits, 241 runs scored, 28 homeruns, 251 runs batted in and a .282 lifetime batting average. In addition to his Major League playing time, he had a long 12-season minor league baseball career and for his high level of play, was elected to the International League Hall of Fame in 1956. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
