OBITUARY
William Joseph Pettit, son of Wm. and Elizabeth Pettit, was born in Henry County, Illinois, April 26, 1893, where he spent his early years. He passed from this life July the 5th, 1913, aged 20 years, two months and 9 days.
Our subject moved with his parents to Knox County Missouri in March in the year 1909. Here he attended school for one year at St. Joseph's College. Since that time he has aided his father in work on the farm.
He was a young man of excellent habits and kindly disposition and had won the love and esteem of all who knew him.
His untimely death came as a great shock to his family and friends, and has enlisted the sympathy of the entire community.
He leaves to mourn his loss father, mother, three sisters, one brother and a host of relatives and friends.
His funeral occurred on Monday.
Those out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Pettit and daughter, Arnold Koster, Mrs. Jas. Golby, Mrs. Thos. Girvin, John Golby, all of Neponset, Ill., Mrs. Frank Hansom, Princeton, Ill., Mrs. Timothy Driscoll of Kewanee, Ill.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Father Healy and the interment took place in St. Joseph's new cemetery.
Thus passed one in early youth and deeply mourned.
May he rest in peace.
