Henry Mancini

Composer. Began his training at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. He worked with big bands and later came to Hollywood where he began working on film scores including Abbott and Costello comedies and horror films. He wrote the film songs, "Moon River" (1962), "Days Of Wine And Roses" (1962), "Baby Elephant Walk" (1962), "Theme From The Pink Panther" (1964), and "Moment To Moment" (1965). The film scores, "Touch of Evil" (1958), "Victor-Victoria" (1982) and "That's Life" (1986). The television music, "Peter Gunn" (1958), "Mr. Lucky" (1959), "Richard Boone Show Theme" (1963), "Newhart" (1982) and "The Thorn Birds" (1983). In his career he won 20 Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, and received 18 Academy Award nominations, taking home the Oscar 4 times.
