James H. Boyson was born in Rome, NY on October 26, 1937 to Emerson A. & Florence E. (Wood) Boyson and went to be with his Lord on April 13, 2011 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 73. Jim was totally devoted to his family and to serving his God. He was selfless, generous, had a gentle spirit and had high standards and was willing to help his students with whatever they needed. He taught at SAC for 30 years as a Professor of Biological Sciences. He was actively involved at Castle Hills First Baptist Church for 32 years, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and in many other roles. He was also involved with Castle Hills First Baptist Church School. Jim met his wife, Irene at Howard Payne University when he moved from NY to Texas to attend college and where she was attending Howard Payne University. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Irene; daughters, Jamie Boyson and Carla Stine; grandchildren, Raylyn Boyson and Henry Stine; siblings, Marjorie Ernest, David Boisen (Edith), Gary Boyson (Michelle); and numerous relatives in NY state, HI and the Midwest. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Odyssey House, especially Kristi, Lori & Jon. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Castle Hills First Baptist Church. Following his selfless devotion to teaching, his body will be donated to science. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Castle Hills First Baptist Church, Castle Hills First Baptist Church School or the American Leukemia Society.
