Married 4/15/1859 Margaret Adeline Meaders,daughter of Rev. Jeddiah Meaders and Margaret Gober Meaders.Wrote tribute in Gwinnett Herald 1890 at death of his father,Simpson M.Hagood of Alpharetta.Served as Clerk of Superior Court and Justice of Peace after the War and also made furniture.He had dark hair and grey eyes according to his Confederate service record and served as a Lieutenant.John E.Davis.(a cousin of K.Emerson's) provided information that he served in the 38th Georgia, was captured in the Battle of Fort Stedman 3/15/1865.He was a member of Gen. John Gordon's Second, Gen. Clements Evan's Division.Mr. Davis provided KE with four letters written by Simpson A.to wife Adeline in which he stated he served as Adjutant of Co.C, and part time as Quarter Master.He wrote letters for all of the enlisted men.See Margaret Adeline Hagood in "Find a Grave".He died in 1912,and was buried in Shadowlawn beside his twenty-eight year old son,Olin.His large tombstone has a Masonic Emblem with birth and death dates and "A Loyal Member of the Methodist Church South, A Valiant Soldier of the Confederacy and a Most Trusted Friend."He was survived by children W.L.,M.M.,Margaret Elizabeth H.Edwards, and Jasper Louis Hagood, and second wife Martha and their children:Mrs.J.M.Gasaway,Mrs. C.K.Grubbs,Howard Hagood, and Lydia. His son, Levi G. died b.1866 d.1874),son Sam (b.1883) died in 1911,daughter, Ida (b.1884) died 1908, and daughter Lucy (b.1885) died 1912.
