Lt. Frank D. Winchester, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Winchester, Wilmington, CA, was killed in action in
Germany on March 9, according to a message received recently from the War Department.
He volunteered for service in November, 1942, received his training at Camp Davis, NC, and Camp Hulen, Texas, went overseas in August, 1944, and was serving with an Anti Aircraft Battalion in France and Belgium, and later in Germany.
He was a member of the Methodist church, a graduate of Tennessee Tech, at Cookeville, and the University of Kentucky, at Lexington. Before entering the service, he was a County Agricultural Agent in Pikeville, KY. His wife, who was Miss Edith Amonette, is residing at the present with his parents, in California.
Other survivors are, a brother, Ralph Winchester, in the service, stationed in Louisville, KY, a sister, Mrs. Hulan Jackson, of Cookeville, two sisters in California, Army Nurses, Mrs. Edward Gilbert and Miss Margaret Winchester, and Mrs. Will Sanders, aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Lon Morrow, James and Julian Fletcher, and Mrs. Cora F. Boyd, of Buffalo Valley, and Mrs. Richard Ligon, of Lebanon.
