Mary Elva Ruff Tipton,86, of Springville passed away April 11, 2004. She was born July 23, 1917 to William Edward and Margaret Ann Morgan Ruff, in Storrs (Spring Canyon), Carbon County Utah. She Married Glenn (Bus) Allan Tipton on September 20, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended school in Price and graduated from Carbon High School in 1935, after which she and her family moved to Springville. After her marriage her life was devoted to rearing her family and serving faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving diligently in many callings. These included ward primary president, ward and stake Relief Society president, and a teacher in all the various auxiliaries and served on the Primary and MIA Stake Boards. Currently she was serving as a visiting teacher supervisor and as a visiting teacher in the Relief Society. She also had the opportunity of serving a mini mission in the Ireland, Dublin Mission in the mission home with her brother-in-law and his wife, President Vernon J. and Norma Tipton. She was able to fulfill a lifelong dream with her husband by traveling to the Holy Land. She served as a member of the ladies firemans auxiliary and enjoyed the association with those women as they served their community. She enjoyed reading and belonged to the We Readers Club. She was also an avid BYU Cougar fan. Everyone loved her cooking and canned goods. She worked for the Church at the Beehive Clothing Center in Springville and later in Provo for 18 1/2 years, retiring at the age of 74. She is survived by her five children Marilyn (Wayne) Samuelson, Judy (Leon) Bleggi , Glenna (Bob) Gottfredson, Sharon (John) Hansen, and Allan (Teresa) Tipton, she also had 22 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild Shane Bleggi, two great-grandchildren Adam and Bryant Greer, her sisters Alice Crawford,Marguerite Hales, Melva and Marie Ruff (twins),and brothers William (Bill) Ruff and Verlon Ruff. Funeral services were held April 15, 2004 under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary with the interment in Evergreen Cemetery. The family thanks Dr. David J. Tipton and all the staff at Mountain View Hospital for their thoughtful and tender care of their mother. Cause of death: cancer
