Funeral services for Leanora "Lea" Klasna, 81, Sidney, were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at the Pella Lutheran Church, Sidney, with Pastor George Karres and Pastor Josh Magyar officiating. Organist was Doris Norby. Casketbearers were her two grandsons, Gordon Klasna and Dylan Klasna; three cousins Lewis Petrik, Ervin Goss and Lyle Roberts; and nephew Edmund Klasna. Honorary casketbearers were Alberta Simard, Ruth Iversen, Ruth Kvaalen, Anne Groskinsky, Norma Mitten, all the staff of East Court at the extended care facility, and all of Lea's friends and neighbors. Ushers were Lea's granddaughters' husbands, Shey Herring and Kraig Sarsten. Interment will be in the Sidney Cemetery under the direction of the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.
Leanora "Lea" was born on May 24, 1925, in Enid, the daughter of Jerome and Joyce (Hull) Petrik Sr. She grew up and attended schools in the Enid and Lambert area. Following graduation from Sidney Senior High School, Lea moved to Billings to attend college where she received her teaching certificate.
Lea met Joseph "Joe" Klasna at a school program and dance. They were united in marriage on June 1, 1944, in Sidney. Following their marriage, they lived with Joe's family for a year. Then they moved a house in, northeast of his father's house. They lived northwest of Lambert, where they farmed and ranched for 55 years and raised their two sons, Jonathan and Timothy. They then moved into the Lodge in Sidney. Lea entered the extended care facility due to failing health.
Lea was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Lambert, and Pella Lutheran Church, Sidney.
Lea was a true farmer's wife, doing field work, helping with the cattle, driving bus, and pitching in wherever and whenever an extra hand was needed. She always loved music, and before the responsibilities of motherhood kept her home, she and Joe used to play for area dances. Lea was an expert seamstress and sewed everything from upholstered furniture to wedding gowns. However, most of her time at the sewing machine was spent patching overalls. She also enjoyed reading.
Lea died on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 23, 2006, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care facility.
Surviving her are: her husband, Joe Klasna, Sidney; two sons Jonathan (Jackie) Klasna, Laurel, and Timothy (Kim) Klasna, Lambert; a sister Elenor (Donald) Lobdel, Garden City, Kan.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother J. T. Petrik Jr.
