Funeral services for pioneer restaurant Joe Brocato, 95, who died Saturday, are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Berchmans Co-Cathedral.
Officiating will be the Rev. Joseph Browning, pastor, and the Rev. Angelo Messina, pastor of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Brocato, who resided at 614 Millicent Way, died at Schumpert Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.
A native of Cefalu, Italy, he arrived in the United States in 1901, landing first in New Orleans. Mr. Brocato first came to Shreveport in 1904 and established a grocery business. In 1924 he began Brocato's Restaurant at 1205 Spring St., and establishment specializing in Italian cuisine. The restaurant has since moved to 189 E. Kings Highway.
Mr. Brocato was a member of St. John Berchmans Co-Cathedral and the Progressive Men's Club.
Survivors include his two sons, Enrico Brocato and Anthony Brocato; two daughters, Mrs. Tony Sanson and Mrs. Philip Pedro, all of Shreveport; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Pedro, Joe B. Pedro, Ricky Brocato, Joe Brocato, Veto Cefalu and Lewid Di Stefano.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home's Marshall Street Chapel.
