Mrs. John C. Melley
Lorain - Mrs. Josephine M. Melley, 43, of 3045 Tressa Ave., who was formerly active in local charity fund drives, died yesterday at 2:15 p.m. in St. Joseph HOspital after two years' illness.
Mrs. Melley had served as city chairman for the Cystic Fibrosis drive two years ago and had worked on the Catholic Charities, Heart Fund, and and Lorain Mary Lee Tucker campaigns.
Born in Sicily, Mrs. Melley had lived in Lorain, practically all her life. She was graduated from St. Mary High School and from Lorain Business College.
Mrs. Melley was a member of St. Peter Church, the special activities group of the church, the parent p teacher unit and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Surviving are her husband, John C. Melley; three daughters, Mary Louise, Eileen and Kathleen and a son Daniel, all at home; her mother, Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Giardina, Lorain and a sister, Mrs. Carl (Frances) Saltis, Lorain.
Friends will be received at the Reidy-ScanlanFuneral Home this evening 7 to 10 and tomorrow, 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.
Services Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home will be followed by a requiem mass at 11 a.m. in St. Peter Church. The Rev. Joseph Step will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Lorain Council Knights of Columbus 637 will have a rosary service in the funeral home tomorrow at 8 p.m.
