Benjamin Chew Tilghman
Birth: Oct. 26, 1821
Death: Jul. 3, 1901

Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. Served during the Civil War first as as Colonel and commander of the 29th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, then as Colonel and commander of the 3rd United States Colored Troops. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on April 13, 1865 for "meritorious services". (bio by: Russ Dodge)
