Born Judith Ives in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, she began her career performing on Broadway in the 1930s and made her film debut in "The Miracle of Morgan's Street" (1944). Her other credits included "13 Rue Madeline" (1947), "Ladybug, Ladybug" (1963), "The Trouble with Angels" (1966), "Valley of the Dolls" (1967), "Cold Turkey" (1971) and "Super Dad" (1973). For television, she was most noted for playing the character ‘Aunt Sally' on "Maude" and as 'Mother Dexter' on the sitcom "Phyllis" in the 1970s. She died in New York City.
