Josiah-2 Standish was the 6th child of Myles-1 Standish and his wife Barbara ?Mullins.
7 STANDISH siblings:  Charles, Alexander, John, Myles Jr., Lora, [Self], and  Charles.
Josiah married 1) Mary Dingley on December 17, 1654 in Marshfield, MA. No known children.
He married 2) Sarah Allen on March 7, 1655-6 in Braintree, MA.
8 STANDISH children: Mary, Martha, Myles, Josiah 2nd, Samuel, Israel, Lois, and Mercy.
On June 6, 1660, Josiah Standish was commissioned as Lieutenant of the military company of Bridgewater, MA; later he became a Captain.

"...The History of Norwich, CT, by Miss F.M. Caulkins, published 1845, available free on-line, references Capt. Josiah Standish on pg. 118: "as owner of a farm east of the Shetucket. . . . He is supposed to have had in his possession the sword of his father [Myles Standish], and though the house in which he lived was destroyed by fire, this relic was preserved." Now in Pilgrim Hall, but another sword in Mass. Hist. Soc. Miss Caulkins suggests Myles might have had 2 swords! ..."
