The Passing of an Old and Respected Citizen
John Hucke, an old and respected resident of Northern Yolo, died at his home two and a half miles from Dunnigan at 8 o'clock Sunday evening. He had been ill several months and death was the result of a complication of ailments. The deceased was a native of Germany and 80 years, 8 months and 8 days old. He came from Germany about thirteen years ago and located near Dunnigan, where he has since been engaged in farming.
The wife of the deceased died a short time after the arrival of the family in Yolo county. The survivors of the family are one daughter and four sons, Mrs. John Auwärter lives in Sacramento County, August Hucke resides near Plainfield, John Conrad and Martin Hucke live near Dunnigan.
The deceased was a good citizen, an obliging neighbor and an affectionate and indulgent father, and his death is deeply deplored by all who know him.
The funeral will take place from the residence of John Hucke, a nephew of the deceased, in Woodland, at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon."
