Albert Wesley Ashworth, age 92 of Rocky Mount peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Surviving are his beloved wife of 73 years, Eva Sledd Ashworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Freda Wayland and husband Russell of Florida, Arlene Jones and husband Robert of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Coral Wayland McFall (Chris), Samuel Wayland (Dawn), Cristi Lambert (Dean) and Tanya Martin (James); great-grandchildren, Adam Lambert and Zoe McFall; sisters, Mary Beeghly, Velma Meador (Gene), and Sevilla Bower (Paul); along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Mr. Ashworth was well known in the county as he was a carpenter and known for his carpentry and woodworking skills. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, and always tried to have the first tomatoes of the season. He grew enough to share with family, friends and animals. He was also a lifelong member of Antioch Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted from Antioch Church of the Brethren 11:30 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Eric Anspaugh and Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home, 2663 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount.
