Euphemie Prejean Authement, 89, a native of Gray, La., and a resident of Houma, La., entered into rest Thursday, January 14, at 3:15 p.m.
She is survived by her sons, John "Pat" Authement and wife Betty, Voorhies Authement and partner Craig Auld, and Anthony "Tony" Authement and wife Allie; daughter, Juanita Poindexter and husband Mike; sisters, Thelma Boudreaux and Vivian LeBeouf; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Loyman J. Authement; parents, Philibert and Julia Sonier Prejean; granddaughter, Fay Leger Hall; daughters, Gloria Prestenbach and husband Earl, and Annie Mae Leger; brothers, Leon Prejean, Herbert Prejean and Henry Prejean; and sisters, Anna Mae Hidalgo and Bessie Melancon.
Her hobbies were sewing and gardening. She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also belonged to the Lady's Altar Society of St. Bernadette, and Lay Order of Carmalite. She was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, January 16, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with burial at St. Francis Cemetery No. 2.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
