Siblings: One brother, Lina Clarence Austin
1st Wife: Adelaide Mae Worden (Colfax Gazette) - married Nov 28, 1906 in Whitman Co, WA and divorced Dec 1909 in Seattle, WA (Spokane Press).
2nd Wife: Jennie Harriet Broton - married May 29, 1911 in Moscow, Latah Co., Idaho
Jennie & Frederick had sixteen children born from 1912 to 1936.
------------------
Fred's father died of pneumonia when Fred was five. Life couldn't have been easy in 1889 for his mother with 2 little boys.
Although he tried his hand at farming, barbering was his main occupation.
Fred met his second wife at a church dance in Idaho where he was playing the fiddle. Jennie's family was against their love match because he was 27, and divorced. However Jennie was almost 19 and thought she knew better. Their marriage lasted 52 years until his death in 1963.
In May 1961 many of their children and grandchildren attended their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. See photograph.
----------------------------
WWI Draft Registration Sept 12, 1918: Occupation was listed as a Barber at MacKelroy's on Riverside Avenue, Spokane, WA. He and Jennie were living at E 1208 Sanson, Spokane.
The barbershop photo - North Western calendar on the wall indicates a date of December 1910. As the North Western RR operated between Chicago and Wyoming, not sure where this photo was taken.
Special thanks to family members for sharing their memories and the photos of my grandfather's barber shop & his children gathered for the 50th wedding anniversary celebration.
