Thanks to Tom Jones for transferring this memorial to me to complete.
There are contemporary genealogists who claim Joshua's wife was Sarah Hurd, daughter of Peter Hurd. Litchfield County CT court records prove otherwise. Sarah Hurd, daughter of Peter and Sarah (Squires) Hurd, married Joshua's older brother David Curtis. He died sometime during the Rev Wat (although it is not known if he particpated in the war), leaving her with two young sons, Jonathan and David. He left her with some land, and next door was Joshua Curtis with wife Sarah.
She remarried widower Michael Hinman, and they all along with many others went to Augusta, Oneida, NY.
I and two other genalogists (one is now deceased) and I spent 20 years and several hundreds of dollars trying to discover Joshua's wife Sarah's maiden name, to no avail.
There is a Washington Congregational Church record that Joshua and Sarah's children were baptized, all at the same time, in 1795, They were Noble, Esther, Asa, Daniel, Susan, Sally, Roxanna, and David. The youngest child Electa was likely born in New York after their arrival.
There is a family record that Joshua Curtis died in Greece, NY in 1829. This was according to a report by a Dr. Seth Hastings also from Washington, Litchfield, CT. His records are kept at the University of Rochester's library. I hired a researcher to research his papers, and she reported she was unable to do so because the handwriting was very tiny, and there were volumes.
