Jesse Kelly Brumfield was the son of John Brumfield and Margaret Kelly. Jesse was born in York, SC. Jesse settled on the old William Love (find a grave # 133169705) plantation near them Bogue Chitto River. Settled in 1809 the original road bed now Love Creek Drive. ( Still exit in some places.) "It was the Holmesville to Covington Road that Andrews Jackson used to move his troops to New Orleans. For the Battle of New Orleans"
It recorded he married Hannah Youngblood in 1830. He was elected Sheriff in 1843 and served four years. In 1848 he was elected to the Mississippi Legislature and served one term. In 1850 & 1860 Jesse was in Pike, MS. In 1870 & 1880 he was in Amite, MS.

Jesse's Obituary:
"31 Jul 1884 – Mr. Jesse Brumfield died at his Amite Co residence on Friday. Father of Henry S Brumfield. 7 Aug 1884 (Liberty Herald) Uncle Jesse Brumfield died at his residence in this county on the 25th of July 1884 in the 78th year of his age. Born in South Carolina. While a child with parents to Washington Parish, Louisiana."
Brumfield was probably buried on the plantation as was the custom at time.The estate later was owned by Weiman Walter Lee (1895-1970) the son of Alice Bickham Brumfield Lee.
